Champion EMS becomes CHRISTUS EMS

Champion EMS becomes Christus EMS

As the New Year gets rolling, a familiar sight on the roads of East Texas will have a new look, and a new name. Champion EMS is changing its name to CHRISTUS EMS, and the ambulances and service vehicles will be updated to the well-known CHRISTUS purple colors.

Over the past 2 years CHRISTUS Health System has joined forces with CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System and CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. Both CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances and CHRISTUS Good Shepherd were the owners of Champion EMS, each with 50 percent membership on the Board of Directors and both sharing the financial and operational responsibilities.

“Now that CHRISTUS Health System wholly responsible our operations it has been determined that Champion EMS will rebrand as CHRISTUS EMS effective January 1, said Stan Holden, Chief Executive Officer of CHRISTUS EMS. “A DBA (doing business as) has been filed with the State of Texas reflecting this change and CHRISTUS EMS, just as Champion EMS did, will operate as a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization.”

Holden said that, most importantly for the people of Northeast Texas, the only changes patients will see is the rebranding of the ambulances and fleet vehicles over the course of 2019.

“Our service, capabilities and our dedication to our communities will not diminish in any way,” said Holden. “For decades we have responded to the East Texans in their times of critical need, and CHRISTUS EMS will continue to provide lifesaving care and service as we grow and move forward in the New Year and beyond.”
